Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced and focused Operating Room Registered Nurse (RN) for a travel contract in Halifax. This role involves circulating and/or scrubbing for various surgical procedures, including general surgery, orthopedics, cardiovascular, and neurosurgery.
This position is ideal for OR nurses who thrive in high-pressure environments and are committed to patient safety and procedural precision.
Key Responsibilities

Prepare and maintain a sterile surgical environment

Assist the surgical team by circulating and scrubbing for procedures

Monitor patients intra-operatively and respond to urgent changes

Perform equipment checks and manage surgical instruments

Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and perioperative teams

Document intraoperative activities accurately in EMR

Follow all OR protocols and infection control measures
Requirements
-
Active RN license with the Nova Scotia College of Nursing (NSCN) or eligibility

Minimum 2 years of recent Operating Room nursing experience

Perioperative Nursing certification (OR Tech) strongly preferred

Current BLS and ACLS
-
Strong teamwork, organizational, and critical thinking skills
