  • Be Treated with Respect – Free from any form of abuse—physical, emotional, verbal, or financial.

  • Have Your Dignity Honored – Your privacy, independence, and right to make decisions will always be respected.

  • Receive Personalized Care – We recognize your unique background, culture, language, beliefs, and preferences.

  • Be Free from Discrimination – Services are provided fairly to all, in line with Canadian laws and values.

  • Access Culturally Safe Care – If you are First Nations, Métis, or Inuk, you have the right to culturally respectful services.

  • Get Clear, Accessible Information – We’ll make sure you understand your care and services in a way that works for you, with access to client services support.

  • Be Involved in Your Care – You’ll take part in planning, updating, and reviewing your care with the option to bring someone with you.

  • Have Coordinated Support – We’ll help organize your services so they work smoothly together.

  • Make Your Own Choices – You can say yes or no to any care or service offered.

  • Understand the Process – We’ll explain how our services work, including how to make a complaint if needed.

Your Responsibilities as a GHHS Client

Just as you have rights when receiving care, you also have an important role to play. To help us provide safe, respectful, and effective care, we ask that you: 

  • Be Respectful – Treat GHHS staff with courtesy and kindness—no discrimination, harassment, or aggressive behavior.

  • Help Keep Our Team Safe – Please ensure a safe environment by: Refraining from smoking or vaping during visits, Securing pets, Keeping walkways clear and well-lit, Removing or safely storing weapons and harmful items.

  • Be Involved – Work with us on your care plan and let us know if your health or home situation changes.

  • Be Ready for Care – Be available and prepared at scheduled times, or let us know in advance if plans change.

  • Keep Us Updated – Tell us right away if your contact details or treatment location change.

  • Communicate Openly – Talk to your care coordinator or service provider about any concerns or questions.

At GHHS, we’re committed to your well-being—but safety is a shared responsibility. If our staff feel unsafe at any time, they may leave the visit. Let’s work together to ensure care that’s safe, respectful, and centered around you.
