Job Overview
We are seeking a highly capable and adaptable Emergency Room Registered Nurse (RN) to join the front-line team in a busy regional hospital in Whitehorse. This position requires critical thinking, strong assessment skills, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
As part of the emergency team, you’ll manage patients with trauma, acute illness, and urgent mental health needs, serving both urban and Travel Assignment communities in the Yukon.
Key Responsibilities

Perform rapid triage and initial stabilization of patients with acute or life-threatening conditions

Initiate and monitor IVs, medications, cardiac rhythms, and emergency protocols

Collaborate with physicians and allied health to deliver timely, efficient care

Support patients and families during high-stress or crisis situations

Maintain accurate documentation in accordance with ER standards

Participate in trauma team activations, resuscitation, and code responses

Adapt care approaches to diverse populations, including Indigenous communities
Requirements

Active RN license (YRNA – Yukon Registered Nurses Association or eligible for registration)

BLS and ACLS certification (mandatory); TNCC and PALS preferred

Minimum 2 years recent ER or critical care experience

Strong decision-making and crisis management skills

Willingness to work rotating 12-hour shifts, including weekends and holidays

Comfort working in a rural northern environment with occasional medevac support
