Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced and adaptable Emergency Room Registered Nurse (RN) for a travel contract in Red Deer. The ER handles a wide range of acute and urgent care cases, including trauma, cardiac, pediatric, and mental health. You’ll be expected to work under pressure while maintaining clinical excellence and compassionate care.

This role is ideal for RNs who thrive in dynamic, high-acuity environments and are confident in rapid assessment and stabilization skills.

Key Responsibilities

• Triage and assess patients upon arrival to the ER

• Provide immediate care for life-threatening conditions including trauma, cardiac arrest, stroke, etc.

• Initiate IVs, administer emergency medications, and perform wound care

• Collaborate with physicians, paramedics, and critical care teams

• Monitor vital signs and respond swiftly to changes in patient condition

• Maintain clear documentation and follow hospital ER protocols

• Educate patients and families on next steps and discharge care when applicable

Requirements

• Active RN license with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA) or eligibility

• Minimum 2 years of recent experience in Emergency Nursing

• Current BLS and ACLS certifications required

• TNCC, PALS, and NRP certifications are strong assets

• Experience using electronic medical record (EMR) systems

• Excellent decision-making and crisis intervention skills

• Fully vaccinated with clear vulnerable sector background check
