Job Overview
We are seeking a knowledgeable and detail-oriented Infection Control Registered Nurse (RN) for a travel contract in Ottawa. This role focuses on implementing and monitoring infection prevention and control (IPAC) practices across healthcare settings to protect patients, staff, and visitors.
Ideal for RNs with strong public health, epidemiology, or infection surveillance backgrounds, this position is crucial in maintaining high safety standards.
Key Responsibilities

Conduct routine infection surveillance, outbreak investigations, and root cause analysis

Monitor compliance with hand hygiene, PPE use, isolation protocols, and sterilization procedures

Provide staff education and training on infection control best practices

Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and public health authorities

Maintain infection control logs and generate reports for management

Contribute to policy development and emergency preparedness planning

Respond promptly to infection-related concerns or exposures within the facility
Requirements

Active RN license with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO) or eligibility
-
Minimum 2 years experience in infection control, public health nursing, or acute care
-
CIC certification (Certification in Infection Control) strongly preferred

Strong knowledge of IPAC Canada and Public Health Ontario guidelines

Proficient in infection surveillance systems and EMR
-
Fully vaccinated and clear vulnerable sector background check
