Job Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and emotionally grounded Personal Support Worker (PSW) to join a dedicated Palliative Care team in Saint John. In this role, you will provide comfort, dignity, and support to patients nearing end-of-life, working closely with families, nurses, and hospice staff in either an inpatient or community setting.
Key Responsibilities

Assist patients with personal hygiene, mobility, and nutritional support

Offer emotional companionship to patients and their families

Monitor and report changes in patient condition to the clinical team

Maintain a calm and respectful environment in alignment with palliative care principles

Provide comfort care such as repositioning, oral care, and relaxation techniques

Support families during the grief process, acting with sensitivity and discretion

Ensure cleanliness and safety in patient surroundings
Requirements

Completion of a recognized PSW or HCA certificate program

Experience in palliative or hospice care is highly preferred

Current CPR/First Aid certification

Strong emotional intelligence, patience, and communication skills

Ability to handle sensitive situations with compassion and professionalism

Clear criminal record check and updated immunization record required
