Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled Surgical Recovery (PACU) Registered Nurse (RN) for a travel assignment in Ottawa. In this critical post-operative role, you’ll care for patients emerging from anesthesia after a wide range of surgical procedures, ensuring a safe and stable recovery before discharge or transfer to inpatient care.
This role is ideal for RNs with excellent assessment skills and the ability to respond quickly to changes in patient condition.
Key Responsibilities

Monitor vital signs and consciousness levels post-surgery

Manage airways, administer oxygen, and provide pain relief as needed

Recognize and respond to post-anesthesia complications

Collaborate closely with surgical teams, anesthesiologists, and other recovery staff

Provide education and reassurance to patients and families

Maintain accurate documentation using EMR systems

Follow strict safety and recovery protocols in a sterile environment
Requirements
-
Active RN license with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO) or eligibility
-
Minimum 2 years recent experience in PACU, Surgical Recovery, or ICU
-
Current BLS and ACLS certifications required

Excellent airway management and post-anesthesia care skills

Strong communication and patient teaching ability

Fully vaccinated and clear vulnerable sector background check
