Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced and compassionate Registered Nurse (RN) to join the Inpatient Surgical Unit at a regional hospital in Whitehorse, Yukon. The RN will provide care to post-operative patients recovering from general, orthopedic, gynecological, and emergency surgeries.

Key Responsibilities

Deliver comprehensive nursing care to surgical patients throughout recovery

Monitor post-op vitals, incision sites, pain levels, and fluid balance

Administer medications, wound care, IV therapy, and pain management protocols

Collaborate with surgeons, physiotherapists, and interdisciplinary teams

Educate patients and families on post-discharge care and mobility precautions

Maintain accurate documentation and communicate changes in patient condition

Ensure infection control and safety standards are consistently met
Requirements

Active RN license with the Yukon Registered Nurses Association (YRNA) or eligibility to register

Minimum 1–2 years experience in surgical, medical-surgical, or acute care nursing

Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification

ACLS certification preferred

Strong clinical skills in post-operative assessment and care planning

Ability to adapt to the pace and complexity of a rural/regional hospital setting

Willingness to work a flexible schedule including nights and weekends
